Breast Augmentation Wyoming Idaho

Breast Augmentation, or what many women refer to as breast enhancement or enlargement, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. Simply stated it is the placement of a breast implant just above or below the pectoralis muscle to change the size or shape of your breasts.

Many patients consider breast augmentation for different reasons. The vast majority of breast augmentation patients are seeking natural looking results to match their body contour. Other patients have noticed a significant loss of breast volume over time and would like to return to a more youthful appearance.

Silicone Breast Implants Available

After 14 years of study, the FDA approved the marketing of silicone breast implants in 2006. This is teriffic news as it allows our patients to have more choices regarding breast surgery. Patients who have had both types of implants overwhelmingly prefer the look and feel of silicone implants. Like many plastic surgeons, I am glad to see the FDA allowing women to make an informed decision about the latest generation of silicone implants. However, silicone implants are not for everyone; there are advantages to each type of implant. It is crucial for every woman to have a detailed discussion with her surgeon about the risks and benefits of breast implants.

The new government approval is not without some restrictions. The FDA has limited the use of silicone breat implants to patients older than 22 years of age. The new guidelines also recommend regular MRI examinations of the breasts and require that patients review a significant amount of literature prior to surgery.

My Personal Philosophy on Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is one of my favorite procedures, therefore I invested a great deal of time and effort into perfecting my skills while in Los Angeles and Florida. Unfortunately, many see breast augmentation in Wyoming and Idaho as a "one size fits all" operation, where the same techniques are applied to every patient. While this type of typical "boob job" is easily picked out, I take a completely different, personalized approach.

I see each patient as a unique individual, thus it is vital to customize the surgery to best suit her personal desires to ensure a more natural outcome. Individual factors such as height, weight, size and shape of the ribcage, elasticity of the skin, breast shape, nipple position and amount of existing breast tissue are all used to formulate a unique and customized plan for each patient.

While some women want a large round implant, others desire a smaller augmentation resulting in a natural, shapely breast. There is no one correct size or approach to your ideal breast. I believe it is important to understand your wishes and expectations so that we can meet your goals together. Vast amounts of beneficial and false information abound online and in the media concerning breast implants - information that can be confusing. I view my role as a guide through this puzzling process and will use my experience to help you understand the numerous options available. Using my surgical skill, together with your honest objectives, we will discuss how best to achieve your goals during a consultation.

What to Expect

Breast augmentation is one of the most common procedures that I perform. If done in the correct setting, it is a very safe and satisfying surgery. I meet my patients before surgery to review all of the choices made and look over the implants that are to be used. The surgery takes about 90 minutes from the time that you drift off to sleep until you awaken in our comfortable recovery suite with a nurse by your side. While in recovery, you will be encouraged to rest and allow the 'sleepy' feeling to clear. Once fully awake, we will talk with you and your care-giver about what to expect over the next few days. I am always available to you and your care-givers by phone and will meet with you the day following surgery.

The evening of your surgery you should be walking comfortably and eating a light meal. You will be encouraged to stretch your muscles and to be active from the time you get home. Many of my patients even feel like going out for dinner the night of surgery. While you will need to wait several days to get into a bathtub, a shower often feels great right after surgery. You can expect several days of sore, stiff muscles which can be made more comfortable with medication. Depending on the level of activity required for your job you should be able to return to work within a few days to a week.
