Travel In for Surgery

Patients regularly travel from throughout the Rocky Mountain region to have surgery with either Dr. Freeman or Dr. Hagan and it would be our pleasure to assist you with your travel plans. Whether you’re considering a facelift, a breast enhancement or body sculpting, we strive to make your stay in eastern Idaho as convenient as possible. Kim, our Patient Care Coordinator, would be happy to answer any of your questions regarding preferred hotels and to assist you in your travel plans.

Some patients will plan a vacation around their consultation or surgery given that Idaho Falls is considered the “gateway” to Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks. Idaho Falls is the closest urban center and major healthcare hub to these parks. Given the proximity of nearby attractions, we can assist you in making your plastic surgery transformation into a complete package vacation.

Many patients and their families enjoy fly fishing, sightseeing, river rafting, and snow skiing while visiting us here in Idaho Falls. Most patients will fly in through the Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA) and stay at a hotel nearby. Others desire a true “Getaway” and will book a cabin in nearby Island Park around the time of their consultation. Whatever your desire, we are always available to help with your travel plans.

“His office and staff were fantastic. They helped us make arrangements to travel to Idaho Falls for our initial consultation as well as for the surgery and any follow up visits. We kept in constant contact by phone and even sent in some photos by email to avoid the long drive for regular follow up visits. I had many options for surgeons being in western Montana from Washington to Boise, but I am so glad we chose to see Dr. Freeman in Idaho Falls. We are lucky to have such a talented plastic surgeon in this part of the world!”- C.S., Hamilton, Montana

Long Distance Consultation

Feel free to contact us via email or phone to arrange a long distance consultation. We will have you fill out a general health questionnaire as well as basic forms regarding your desires for cosmetic surgery.

We encourage patients to submit photographs and health information privately so that we may help to evaluate your candidacy for specific plastic procedures. Please understand that some patients will not be an ideal candidate for an operation.

Once your photographs and health information have been reviewed by Dr. Freeman and Dr. Hagan, we will contact you by telephone or email to discuss whether you are considered to be an ideal candidate for the specific operation you are considering.

For ideal candidates, we will then discuss what options will suit you best. Often we can arrange a consultation, surgery and follow-up all with a one week time frame. We are happy to talk with you and to assist in making arrangements to optimize your time and travel.

Once you have decided that you wish to proceed, we will determine available dates as well as a possible recovery facility and/or hotel as necessary. Patients undergo their surgery at an accredited OR facility run by Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls. They are performed at Mountain View Hospital or in a private ambulatory surgery center in our office building run by the hospital.

Your safety is our utmost concern. As a result, patients with any type of medical condition, i.e., high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, asthma, etc. will need medical clearance from a primary care doctor (preferably your personal physician) prior to surgery.

Postoperative Care

Usually, patients who fly in for surgery will be instructed to stay around the area for 4-14 days, depending upon their specific surgery and required healing time. Obviously, patients having more involved procedures may need more time, but this would be decided during your consultation.

For your convenience, we have compiled a list of local hotels which are preferred by most of our visiting patients. Most of the listed hotels have unpublished preferred pricing available for our patients so be sure to contact us prior to making arrangements on your own.
